Functional Movement for Yogis is a series of workshops and online e-courses developed by Dr. MaryAnne Harrington Dimak DC, MS. This concept is about sharing information in an educational setting that will elevate the practice and teaching of yoga. There is so much potential for synergy between yoga and rehabilitation and the FMY courses are a gateway to allow better collaboration and communication between the health care and yoga fields.
The goal of FMY is to create a space where seasoned yoga students, yoga educators, and movement professionals can come to expand their knowledge, hone their skills, and feel empowered to better elevate themselves and others in their interactions whether on or off the mat. In other words, "let's nerd out and help each other be our best!"

Hello! I grew up in Mitchell, SD and attended chiropractic school in St. Louis, MO. When I arrived at chiropractic school I was overweight, unhealthy, and had developed some poor habits throughout my undergraduate education at Nebraska. I was inspired by the opportunity to become someone who helps others so I started by helping myself. Through my transformation (I lost 40 pounds!) I utilized a weekly yoga practice to keep me on the track running. As I learned more about movement, I realized the correlations between yoga and rehabilitation and decided to complete a 200-hour yoga teacher training. I now integrate that knowledge into patient care, yoga workshops, and when I am teaching at yoga teacher trainings. This passion for helping patients with movement and educating the community has also allowed me the opportunity to be a lululemon ambassador. Yoga has played such an integral role in my personal life as well as ability to achieve my physical goals, and I am very grateful for the chance to share my knowledge and skills with others in the hopes it will help them achieve their goals as well!
Over the course of years of chiropractic practice, teaching yoga, and leading workshops on anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, functional movement, or yoga & injuries in various teacher trainings and studios in Southern California, I noticed the need for more integration and the "how to apply" components of the information shared. I'm so excited to offer these programs to add value and help bridge that gap!
